Environmentally Responsible Products
We offer a wide range of eco-conscious alternatives including recycled products, paper from certified responsibly managed forests, refillable writing instruments, ENERGY STAR® qualified office technology, and natural cleaning products.
In September 2009, Staples enrolled in the Rainforest Alliance’s SmartSource program, a customized service for companies and organizations that want to examine and improve their forest-product purchasing policies and practices.
Recycling Services
We feel it is important not only for us to focus on the environmental aspects of our own operations, but also to help our customers to reduce their impact.
One way that we assist our customers is through recycling programs for their ink and toner cartridges, reducing waste to landfills and saving resources.
- Ink recycling: Ask your Staples Account Manager, Customer Service Representative, or inquire at your local Staples store for more information on how to recycle your empty ink and toner cartridges.
Additionally, we can help our customers to consolidate their orders for fewer deliveries, resulting in decreased carbon emissions. And, through our online ordering platform and electronic invoicing options, our customers reduce their paper usage.
By helping our customers to consolidate their purchases from multiple vendors to just one, they benefit from reduced procurement and invoicing costs, and superior program management and reporting, all while making a positive impact on the environment. We do this through our comprehensive offering of office products, furniture, technology, facilities, and promotional products.
Of course, there are many other simple ways that we provide consultation to our customers in order to help reduce their environmental footprint. We offer suggestions for setting printers, to double-sided printing, using technology instead of paper, eliminating cover pages, reusing paper products, placing recycling bins near copiers, purchasing thru online catalogs instead of print, turning off monitors when not in use, and powering down computers at the end of the day.
